Commentary

For this type, Mr. Crawford noted an estimate of 450 obverse dies and 562 reverse dies. On the reverse, on our example, we have a B, placed above the bull. For each letter of the alphabet, pointed or not, several dies can be associated. It is one of the most common republican denarii of the coinage with a production certainly exceeding one million denarii struck.
