Historical background
THESSALY - AENIANES
(4th century BC)
The Ainiane were the inhabitants of the district of Ainis whose main city was Hypata. The region was bordered by Aetolia and Achaia Phthiotis. Hypata joined the Aetolian league in 302 BC and during the conflict between Antiochus III and the Romans, the city was sacked in 191 BC.
