Historical background

(10/01/402-28/07/450) Flavius Theodosius

Theodosius II, born in 401, was proclaimed in august 402-9 months. After the death of his father Arcadius in 408, the two embassies of Ravenna and Constantinople were cold. Honorius would have liked to reunify the empire, and when he died 15 August 423, Jean, Secretary of the deceased emperor and new august, gets hit a very small number of solidi in the name of Theodosius II until November 20, the date when it is considered a usurper. Jean is finally captured early 425 in Ravenna, mutilated, and executed and install his cousin Theodosius II Valentinian III as august in Ravenna. Theodosius reigned for forty-eight years on the destinies of the East and died a victim of a hunting accident.
