Commentary

Exemplaire issu du médaillier Franklin qui met à l’honneur le peintre Edouard Manet avec l’un de ses tableaux les plus connus: Le Déjeuner sur l’Herbe (1863). Malgré le soutien de Delacroix et d’Ingres, son oeuvre fut à l’origine d’un immense scandale si bien que le Salon des Refusés fut fermé. il est désormais conservé au Musée d’Orsay à Paris.
