Commentary

The uprising took place from May 5 to 8, 1945. It pitted the Czech resistance, aided by Vlasov's Russian Liberation Army, against German troops. A truce was concluded on May 8 to allow the evacuation of German civilians and the remnants of Army Group Center to the American front line. In exchange, the city was spared from destruction. On May 9, the city was completely liberated thanks to the arrival of Soviet troops.
