Second reign
After the death of Antiochus VII, the Parthians freed Demetrius who had been a prisoner for ten years. He confronted the Egyptians and lost part of the province of Syria. After the usurpation of Alexander II Zebina, who claimed descent from Alexander I, Demetrius II was assassinated in Tire.
