Exemplaire sur un flan ovale légèrement décentré au droit, mais laissant voir l’intégralité de la couronne radiée d’Antiochus VI. Très belle tête du roi séleucide. Joli revers de style fin. Très belle patine de médaillier avec des reflets mordorés

SYRIA - SELEUKID KINGDOM - ANTIOCHUS VI DIONYSUS

(145-142 BC)

Antiochus VI Dionysos, son of Alexander Balas and Cleopatra Thea, was proclaimed king by General Diodotus to fight against Demetrius II. Antiochus VI once assassinated by Diodotus in 142 BC, he had himself proclaimed king under the name of Tryphon (142-138 AC.). Demetrius II was captured in 140 BC by the Parthians and his brother Antiochus VII Sidetes succeeded him. Cleopatra Théa hastened to marry him.
