Obverse description : Paysage sous les armes du canton dont on aperçoit les crosses de deux fusils surmontés de la croix helvétique rayonnante.

Reverse description : Soldat barbu en armure agenouillé tourné à gauche, brandissant une épée de la main droite et pointant le ciel et une bannière de la main gauche, son heaume à ses pieds ; derrière des soldats ; devant un paysage.

Commentary


Cette monnaie de tir commémore la résistance suisse face aux bourguignons de Charles le Téméraire entre 1474 et 1476. Charles le Téméraire subit une cuisante défaite à Morat en 1476. Les contingents suisses aidèrent le duc de Lorraine René II à lutter contre les Bourguignons. Charles le Téméraire trouva la mort devant Nancy en janvier 1477.
This shooting coin commemorates the Swiss resistance against the Burgundians of Charles the Bold between 1474 and 1476. Charles the Bold suffered a crushing defeat at Murten in 1476. Swiss contingents helped the Duke of Lorraine, René II, fight against the Burgundians. Charles the Bold was killed outside Nancy in January 1477.
