Obverse description : La ville de Genève sous les traits d’une femme avec une coiffure tourelée dans les bras de la Suisse ; toutes deux portant une épée. Signé sur la plinthe : D’APRES DORER et de part et d’autre des deux personnages : ANT. - BOVY.

Commentary

Le 12 septembre 1814, la Diète fédérale réunie à Zurich admet la principauté de Neuchâtel dans la Confédération suisse, comme 21e canton, en même temps que les cantons du Valais (20e) et de Genève (22e).

50e anniversaire – 1864 :
En 1864 (50e), les Neuchâtelois sont encore trop affectés par les événements contre-révolutionnaires de 1856 pour songer à célébrer les liens avec la Suisse.
