Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Obverse description : Tête diadémée de Perséphone à droite, les cheveux tirés en arrière, avec boucles d'oreilles ; deux dauphins devant le visage et un autre derrière le cou ; grènetis.

Reverse

Reverse description : Pégase volant à droite, les ailes déployées, légende entre la queue et les pattes arrières.

Commentary

Poids léger. Épigraphie élégante. Le centrage de cette drachme permet la présence des trois dauphins autour de la tête, en bord de flan et de frappe molle. Au revers, la légende est presque complète, mais avec de tous petits caractères ! La tête du cheval est intéressante, avec le motif du petit enfant assis, touchant ses pieds avec ses mains.
Cette drachme servit de prototype à de nombreuses monnaies lourdes du sud-ouest de la Gaule, et même à certaines monnaies d’or !.
Lightweight. Elegant epigraphy. The centering of this drachma allows for the presence of the three dolphins around the head, on the edge of the flan and soft strike. On the reverse, the legend is almost complete, but with very small characters! The horse's head is interesting, with the motif of the small seated child, touching its feet with its hands. This drachma served as a prototype for many heavy coins from southwest Gaul, and even for some gold coins!
