La Somalie italienne est une colonie italienne de 1889 à 1941. Durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, dès 1941, les Anglais occupent cette région, qu'ils quittent à la fin de 1949. L'administration de la région est alors confiée temporairement par les Nations Unies à l'Italie jusqu’en 1960, date de l’indépendance. Cette dernière période est appelée Amnistrazione Fiduciara Italiana della Somalia (A.F.I.S.)..
Italian Somalia was an Italian colony from 1889 to 1941. During World War II, the British occupied the region from 1941, leaving it at the end of 1949. The United Nations then temporarily entrusted the region's administration to Italy until 1960, when it gained independence. This last period was called the Amnistrazione Fiduciara Italiana della Somalia (AFIS).
