L’intitulé exact de la pièce est “250ème anniversaire de la naissance de Chatam Sofer” (Hatam Sofer en français).
Hatam Sofer ou Rabbi Moché Schreiber, naquit en 1762 à Francfort-sur-le-Main en Allemagne et mourut à Bratislava en 1839. Il fut le Grand-Rabbin de la communauté juive de Bratislava à partir de 1806.
C’est l’une des figures les plus importantes du judaïsme européen du XIXème siècle.

Brilliant Uncirculated coin, in capsule, with historical and technical leaflet. The exact title of the coin is “250th anniversary of the birth of Chatam Sofer” (Hatam Sofer in French). Hatam Sofer or Rabbi Moshe Schreiber, was born in 1762 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and died in Bratislava in 1839. He was the Chief Rabbi of the Jewish community of Bratislava from 1806. He is one of the most important figures of 19th-century European Judaism.
