Timoleon (344-317 avant J.-C.)

After the assassination of Dion in 354 BC, a period of instability followed for ten years. Timoleon, a native of Corinth, landed in Sicily in 344 BC and took control of Syracuse. He restored the Greek hegemony in Sicily in chasing after the Battle of Carthage in 339 BC Crimisus He formed a democratic government which unfortunately was not him survive Agathokles seizing power from 317 before J .-C. Nevertheless, for twenty years, Syracuse enjoyed a period of peace that allowed him to restore its finances and develop a major program of urban construction, with the return of agricultural prosperity.
