Exemplaire sur un flan large et bien centré des deux côtés de style fin et à l’usure superficielle, un peu court au droit sur l’aurige. Droit de style fin, bien venu à la frappe. Magnifique revers de haut relief avec un portrait de toute beauté. Très jolie patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets mordorés

Obverse legend : INSCRIPTION PUNIQUE À L'EXERGUE (RSMLQRT).

Obverse description : Quadrige galopant à droite, conduit par un aurige, tenant les rênes et le kentron, couronné par une Niké volant à gauche ; double ligne d'exergue.

Reverse

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Reverse description : Tête féminine (Tanit) à droite, les cheveux tirés en arrière avec couronne d'épis, boucle d'oreille et collier, entourée de trois dauphins.

Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire du Staatlische Museen de Berlin et du British Museum (coll. Llyod n° 1599, provenant du trésor de Cefalù).

The attribution of the Punic imitations of the Syracusan coinage to Cephaloedium is not certain because Selinunte and Panorme, among other towns in Sicily, also attract attention. According to some authors, these tetradrachms were only minted between 409 and 396 BC. After this date, Hieron of Syracuse took over these cities from the Carthaginians.
