Exemplaire sur un petit flan très irrégulier, échancré. Très beau portrait d’Artémis à l’usure superficielle. Cavalier de style très fin, bien venu à la frappe. Jolie patine superficielle avec des reflets dorés

Commentary

Poids très léger. Même coin de droit que l’exemplaire reproduit dans l’ouvrage d’Eupremio Montenegro (MIAMG. 4499, p. 787).

SICILY - MORGANTINA

(5th - 4th century BC)

It was around 560 BC that people settled in what was to become Morgantina. The City was almost completely destroyed in 459 BC and had great difficulty in recovering. The city followed the destinies of Syracuse from Timoleon around 340 BC and experienced a brilliant renaissance under the reigns of Agathocles and Hieron II.
