Historical background


SICILY - Himera

(Ve - fourth century BC)

After the destruction of Himera by the Carthaginians in 409 BC the city was abandoned and its population was put to death or deported. However, two years later, returned refugees on the territory of Himera deserted although a new city was founded Thermai, the two entities have a separate existence. However, this new foundation never regained the luster of the old.
