Commentary
La Thaïlande ou Siam échappa au XIXe siècle à la colonisation en raison des rivalités entre Français et Anglais. Chulalongkorn ou Rama V dut toutefois renoncer à la rive gauche du Mékong en faveur de la France.
Selon Jean Lecompte, ce jeton a été émis en 1880.
Thailand, or Siam, escaped colonization in the 19th century due to rivalries between the French and the English. However, Chulalongkorn, or Rama V, had to give up the left bank of the Mekong to France. According to Jean Lecompte, this token was issued in 1880.
