Flan court, centré des deux côtés. Très joli portrait de Rome ainsi qu’un revers détaillé. Patine gris foncé

Obverse description : Tête de Rome à droite, coiffée du casque ailé ; sous le menton, (marque XVI) ; un lituus derrière la tête.
Obverse translation : “Roma” (Rome).

Reverse


Reverse legend : C. SER(VE)IL.
Reverse description : Deux cavaliers s’affrontant à gauche, le bouclier du cavalier de droite est orné d’une M.
Reverse translation : “Caius Serveilius”, (Caius Serveilius).

Commentary


Pour ce type, M. Crawford n’avait relevé que vingt-deux coins de droit et de vingt-sept coins de revers. Ce type de denier semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages de référence.
