Obverse description : Tête imberbe à gauche, les cheveux disposés en boucles perlées sur deux rangées ; un rinceau derrière la tête.


Reverse legend : SE - QVANOIO - TVOS.
Reverse description : Sanglier à gauche.


Ce type de chevelure en juxtaposition d'annelets pointés est assez peu répandu sur les monnaies gauloises. Sur cet exemplaire, seule la légende SEQVAN est visible (SE sous le groin et QVAN au-dessus des soies du sanglier).
Les seuls deniers approchant de la qualité de celui-ci sont le n° 847 de MONNAIES XXIII et le n° 19 de la fameuse vente de la collection d’un amateur d’art chez Vinchon le 29 octobre 2002 (vendu 800 €).

(Second - first century BC)

The Séquanes was one of the most important people of eastern Gaul. They were the enemies of the Aedui, their neighbors. Their territory was vast and stretched between the Saone, Rhone, Jura and Vosges. The Jura lakes separated the Helvetii. They were very strong in the third and second centuries BC, but had lost their pride after the Germans had occupied part of its territory to 70 BC They were neighbors Leuques the Lingons the Aedui and the Helvetii. Their main oppidum was Vesontio (Besançon). Cited several times by Caesar, during the campaign of 52 BC, they provided a contingent of 12,000 men for the army of relief. Caesar (Bg.
