Reverse description : Aigle debout à droite, les ailes déployées, la tête et la queue tournées à gauche, couronne feuillée dans le bec ; entre les pattes de l'aigle, sur une ligne de terre, une étoile à huit rais.

Commentary
Les frappes du deuxième groupe de Laodicée se reconnaissent à quatre caractéristiques :
- le style est bon et l’aigle a une couronne
- la légende de revers ne redouble pas le TO
- la couronne dans le bec de l’aigle a des feuilles bien détachées
- les ailes de l’aigle sont approximativement à la même hauteur.
Si les pièces de ce groupe sont encore assez rares, il y a néanmoins une véritable frappe à motif économique.
L’identification de l’atelier est certaine grâce aux émissions de présentation qui montrent la Tyché de la ville assise sur un mont, un dieu-fleuve tenant le phare de la ville et nageant à ses pieds.
On note que les sigma sont gravés en C.
Dans la base TSP maintenue par Michel Prieur, quarante-quatre exemplaires sont maintenant répertoriés. Notre exemplaire, qui provient des plateaux de la Maison Bonvallet en 1982, est le 1140_027.
The strikes of the second group of Laodicea can be recognized by four characteristics: - the style is good and the eagle has a crown - the reverse legend does not repeat the TO - the crown in the eagle's beak has well-detached leaves - the eagle's wings are approximately at the same height. If the coins of this group are still quite rare, there is nevertheless a true strike with an economic motif. The identification of the mint is certain thanks to the presentation issues which show the Tyche of the city seated on a mountain, a river god holding the city's lighthouse and swimming at her feet. Note that the sigmas are engraved in C. In the TSP base maintained by Michel Prieur, forty-four examples are now listed. SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS

Septimius Severus was born in 146 in Leptis Magna in Africa (Libya). After a brilliant military career under the reigns of Marc Aurèle and Commodus, he was consul suffect in 185. At the time of Pertinax's death, he was governor of Upper Pannonia. Acclaimed emperor on April 13, 193, he quickly eliminated Dide Julien, his compatriot (June 28), and associated Albin with power as Caesar before fighting Pescennius Niger in the East. In 195, he fictitiously entered the Antonine family by being adopted post-mortem. He defeats and executes Niger and leads a brilliant campaign in Arabia. In 197, he got rid of his last adversary, Albin, who proclaimed himself august. Severus prepares the establishment of his dynasty by giving the title of Augusta to Julia, his wife, in 194, of Caesar to Caracalla, in 196, then of Augustus in 198 when Geta, his second son, becomes Caesar. Sévère will spend fifteen years consolidating the borders of the Empire by winning numerous victories over the Parthians (197-198), then in Africa (207) and, finally in Brittany (208-211), where he died..
