SEMPRONIA

(148 BC)

In 148 BC, Sp. Postumius Albinus Magnus and L. Calpurnius Piso Cæsonius were consuls. The Third Punic War began the previous year. Cato the Elder died before his dream of the destruction of Carthage came true. In 148, the consul Calpurnius Piso continued the siege of the African metropolis, while Andriscus, who claimed to be the son of Perseus, was defeated in Macedonia by Q Caecilius Metellus who took the nickname of Macedonian.
