Ce triens est frappé sur un flan irrégulier et présente un fort tréflage au revers rendant difficile la lecture du type. Cette monnaie présente sur son pourtour une ancienne trace de sertissage. Les reliefs du droit sont nets

SAVOY - SAINT-JEAN DE MAURIENNE - CHISCOLUS

(6th-7th century)

The name of the moneyer Chiscolus was mentioned for the first time by G. Conbrouse, according to a triens from the Crouy de Compiègne collection. According to this example, which was difficult to read, Conbrouse had read CHISCOLPS, an error which was corrected by G. Vallier in 1878. In 1879, Vallier corrected this reading error from two new, better preserved examples and was able to read Chiscolus there..
