SAVOY - DUCHY OF SAVOY - VICTOR-AMADEUS I

Victor-Amédée is the second son of Charles-Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy and Prince of Piedmont, and Catherine-Michelle of Spain. Although brother-in-law of the King of France, he makes war on him. Defeated, he had to sign the Treaty of Cherasco in 1632. Four years later, he allied himself by the Treaty of Rivoli with France against Austria and won two battles over the Marquis de Léganés at Tornavento (1636) and at Mombaldone ( 1637). He died a few days later.
