The war ended with the Treaty of Vervins May 2, 1598 but resumed in 1600 for not actually end in 1601 by the Peace of Lyon where the Duke of Savoy sees confirm the marquis of Saluzzo in exchange for Bresse, Bugey and Gex which are annexed to the kingdom of France. On the death of Francesco Gonzaga, Duke of Mantua, Charles-Emmanuel claimed the inheritance of the duchy; war broke out against Spain in 1614 and ends in 1617 with the Peace of Madrid.
