Exemplaire sur un flan ovale bien centré des deux côtés. Beau buste de Salonine. Frappe molle au revers. Patine grise superficielle avec des reflets dorés

Obverse description : Buste diadémé et drapé de Salonine à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant posé sur un croissant (L15).

Reverse legend : IVNO REGINA.
Reverse description : Junon voilée et drapée debout à gauche, tenant une patère de la main droite et un sceptre court transversal de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Iuno Regina”, (Junon reine).

Commentary


Poids léger. Avec l’intégralité de son argenture superficielle. Type particulier pour l’atelier de Viminacium qui semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. C’est la première fois que nous présentons un exemplaire à la vente.

Gallien woman, mother of Valerian II and Salonin - Augusta (253-268)

Salonina, Gallien's wife, seems to have received the title of augusta in 253 when her husband was associated with power by Valerian I.. She lost at least two of his children, and young Valerian Salonin. She was murdered along with her husband. Salonina supposed to have had Christian sympathies.
