Exemplaire sur un flan ovale décentré. Beau portrait de Salonine. Frappe molle au revers. Patine grise avec des reflets dorés

Reverse legend : BENERI GENETRICI (SIC !).
Reverse description : Vénus drapée debout à gauche, tenant une pomme de la main droite et un sceptre long de la main gauche.

Commentary
Rare type avec trois exemplaires recensés dans le trésor d’Eauze et neuf dans l’ouvrage de Göbl.

Wife of Gallienus, mother of Valerian II and Saloninus - Augusta
Salonine, the wife of Gallien, seems to receive the title of augusta in 253, when her husband is associated with power by Valerian I. She loses at least two of her children, young Valérien and Salonin. She is murdered at the same time as her husband. Salonina is said to have had Christian sympathies.
