Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle pour ce type de monnayage sur un flan épais, large et ovale, parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Portrait de toute beauté pour ce type. Revers de joli style fin, bien venu à la frappe. Patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets dorés

Obverse description : Buste diadémé et drapé de Salonine à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant posé sur un croissant (L15).

Obverse translation : “Cornelia Salonina Augusta”, (Cornélia Salonine augusta).

Reverse legend : CONCORDIA AVG (SIC !).

Reverse description : Gallien et Salonine se donnant la main ; Gallien est debout à gauche tourné à droite et Salonine debout à droite tournée à gauche ; au milieu, au-dessus, une couronne.

Reverse translation : “Concordia Augusti”, (La Concorde de l’auguste).

Commentary

Poids très lourd. Cette émission avec la couronne semble beaucoup plus rare. Semble complètement inédit avec un seul G au lieu de deux normalement (AVG pur AVGG). Avec un seul G, cet antoninien serait normalement frappé après 260 alors que l’atelier 2 est tombé entre les mains des Sassanides de Sapor II. Manque à tous les ouvrages consultés. Sommes-nous en présence d’une erreur de scalptor qui a omis le deuxième G ? Serait-il possible que nous ayons affaire à une émission frappée juste la capture de Valérien Ier en Orient.
Very heavy weight. This issue with the crown seems much rarer. Seems completely unprecedented with a single G instead of two normally (pure AVG AVGG). With a single G, this antoninianus would normally be minted after 260 while mint 2 fell into the hands of the Sassanids of Shapor II. Missing from all consulted works. Are we in the presence of a scalper error that omitted the second G? Could it be possible that we are dealing with an issue minted just after the capture of Valerian I in the East
