Obverse translation : “Cornelia Salonina Augusta”, (Cornélia Salonine augusta).

Reverse legend : PIETAS AVGG/ S|C.

Reverse description : Pietas (la Piété) ou Salonine assise à gauche, les jambes croisées, tenant un sceptre long de la main gauche et tendant la droite vers deux enfants placés devant elle, tournés à droite (Valérien II et Salonin).

Reverse translation : “Pietas Augustorum”, (La Piété des augustes).

Salonine, the wife of Gallien, seems to receive the title of augusta in 253, when her husband is associated with power by Valerian I. She loses at least two of her children, young Valérien and Salonin. She is murdered at the same time as her husband. Salonina is said to have had Christian sympathies.
