Historical background

SALM - COUNTY OF SALM - FRANÇOIS II

(26/11/1625-15/10/1632)

François de Vaudémont is the third son of Grand Duke Charles. He was born on February 27, 1572 and married Christine de Salm, on April 15, 1597. His son Charles IV married Nicole, Duchess of Lorraine, but François obtained from the States assembled in Nancy, on November 26, 1625, that they declare him Duke according to the law of male heredity. It is in this capacity that he minted coins at the same time as his son. He died on October 15, 1632.
