Commentary
Ce denier pourrait être rapproché de certains deniers classés à Saint-Ouen de Rouen présentant une sorte de C avec une croix, motif proche de celui du revers (Depeyrot, n° 12, p. 51).

Former city of the Veliocasses, Rotomagus developed in Roman times and became the metropolis of Lyonnaise II at the end of the 4th century. Rouen struck various triens, and several types of deniers with a rose on the reverse and presenting a head of profile on the reverse or an A topped with a cross. The specimens with a rose and the face head seem to have been struck in the Rouen region. These three types are found in the treasure of Plassac (Gironde) hidden around 710-730.
