Minuscule monnaie, de poids très léger, avec un droit un peu mou mais très bien centré. Revers de qualité hors du commun. Très belle patine irisée, de collection ancienne

VSO 32, 864 et 34, 1226 avaient un oiseau à gauche et non pas à droite comme cet ex !
Tous types confondus, seulement trois monnaies étaient répertoriées dans le Moneta. Il s'agit des monnaies publiées et signalées par M. Lhermet. Dans sa récente étude, C. Lopez distingue six variantes de ces monnaies dites à l'oiseau et en répertorie 14 exemplaires... a défaut de matériel plus abondant, le classement précis de cette étude est illusoire (à moins de faire une étude de coins) car il se limite à une description des exemplaires à disposition en cherchant à les distinguer les uns des autres !.
VSO 32, 864 and 34, 1226 had a bird on the left and not on the right like this example! All types combined, only three coins were listed in the Moneta. These are the coins published and reported by M. Lhermet. In his recent study, C. Lopez distinguishes six variants of these so-called bird coins and lists 14 examples... in the absence of more abundant material, the precise classification of this study is illusory (unless a study of dies is carried out) because it is limited to a description of the available examples while trying to distinguish them from each other!

GALLIA - SOUTH WESTERN GAUL - RUTENI (Area of Rodez)

Neighbors of the Arvernes, the Cadurques and the Gabales, their territory corresponded to the former Rouergue (current department of Aveyron) to the north of the Tarn, the course of which constituted the border with the province of Narbonnaise. The Rutenes, allies of the Arvernes, had participated in the operations which led to the defeat of Bituit, king of the Arvernes in 121 BC and the creation of the province of Narbonnaise. On this occasion, the Rutenes had found themselves cut in two, following the natural border of the Tarn. Active in the coalition against the Romans in 52 BC, they provided a contingent of 12,000 men to the relief army. Sources: Caesar (BG. I, 45; VII, 5, 64, 75 and 90).
