Reverse description : Aigle bicéphale surmontée de trois couronnes impériales ; dans ses serres le globe et le sceptre ; sur sa poitrine l'écusson aux armes de Moscou (saint Georges à cheval, à droite). Autour de l'écu la grande chaîne de l'Ordre de Saint-André. De part et d'autre de la queue de l'aigle : A-III.

Catherine (2/05/1729-17/11/1796) was the largest Czarina after Peter the Great. She succeeded her husband, Peter III, who was deposed in 1762 before being assassinated by the Orloff brothers. His long reign ushered Russia into the "Enlightenment". Amie philosophers Diderot who she bought his library, liberal, it nevertheless reinforced despotism and the nationalization of Russia. She fought against the Turks and showed an opponent of the French Revolution.
