Historical background

RUSSIA - ANNA - COURLAND

(29/01/1730-28/10/1740)

Anne (7/02/1693-28/10/1740) is the daughter of Ivan V (1682-1689), the half-brother of Peter the Great. She succeeded Peter II (1727-1730). She had married Frédéric-Guillaume, Duke of Courland. Pierre Von Biron, Sovereign Duke of Courland, was married to mother Anna Dorothea; their fourth daughter, Dorothée de Courlande was endowed with a fascinating beauty, a remarkable intelligence, an ardent temperament and a profound culture. His story, see http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doroth%C3%A9e_de_Courlande, is fascinating.
