Commentary

Institué par la loi fédérale du 9 mai 2006, le titre de « Ville de la gloire militaire » est attribué aux villes russes dont les habitants ont fait preuve de courage et d’héroïsme particuliers pendant la Seconde guerre mondiale.
Tver est située sur le cours supérieur de la Volga. Elle a été baptisée Kalinine de 1931 à 1990. Elle a été prise le 17 octobre 1941 par les troupes allemandes avant d’être libérée par l’Armée Rouge le 16 décembre 1941.
Established by federal law on May 9, 2006, the title of \\\"City of Military Glory\\\" is awarded to Russian cities whose inhabitants demonstrated particular courage and heroism during World War II. Tver is located on the upper reaches of the Volga River. It was named Kalinin from 1931 to 1990. It was captured by German troops on October 17, 1941, before being liberated by the Red Army on December 16, 1941.
