RUSSIA - PAUL I

(1796-1801)

Paul I (1754-1801), the son of Catherine II and Peter III, succeeded his mother in 1796. He was the father of Alexander I, Constantine and Nicolas I. He was assassinated, perhaps at the instigation of his eldest son who succeeded him.
