Patine hétérogène avec des concrétions. Petite porosité dans les champs. Flan légèrement voilé

Commentary


Diamètre sans bélière : 69,5 mm
Ce motif au serpents est issue de la tradition byzantine au Xe siècle. Ce type de médaille avait pour but de protéger celui qui la portait. Nous n’avons pas été capable de lire et identifier correctement la légende mais il semblerait que la légende de l’avers soit une formule ou incantation appelant à la protection. Cet exemplaire a été utilisé en Europe de l’Est.
