Commentary


A l’époque, la Parys Mines Company exploitait la plus grande mine de cuivre du monde située au Pays de Galles. Charles Pye, graveur de Birmingham, estimait la production de la compagnie à au moins 250 tonnes de pennies et 50 tonnes de demi-pennies, ce qui en faisait comme le plus gros émetteur de tokens en cuivre. Ces tokens étaient frappés dans un atelier appartenant à la compagnie et situé à Birmingham..
At the time, the Parys Mines Company operated the world's largest copper mine, located in Wales. Charles Pye, a Birmingham engraver, estimated the company's production at at least 250 tons of pennies and 50 tons of halfpennies, making it the largest issuer of copper tokens. These tokens were minted at a company-owned mint in Birmingham.
