Commentary

En 1847, une motion du parlement de Westminster est présentée pronant la création d’un système monétaire décimal comprenant des monnaies d’un dixième et d’un centième de livre. La motion est repoussée mais le “Florin” valant un dixième de Livre est introduit en 1849 pour tester l’opinion.
Ce n’est qu’en 1968 que le système décimal sera introduit..
In 1847, a motion was presented in the Westminster Parliament advocating the creation of a decimal monetary system comprising coins of one-tenth and one-hundredth of a pound. The motion was rejected, but the “Florin” worth one-tenth of a pound was introduced in 1849 to test public opinion. It was not until 1968 that the decimal system was introduced.
