Commentary

Malgré la rareté du type, nous n’avons pas relevé d’identité de coin pertinente. Ce type monétaire est servilement copié ou emprunté au monnayage macédonien de Philippe II de Macédoine (359-336 avant J.-C.) père d’Alexandre le Grand et ami de Lysimaque. Cette émission reste cependant de la plus grande rareté et manque à la plupart des ouvrages consultés.

Coinage in the name and type of Lysimachos and of the type fo Philip II of Macedonia

Lysimachus (c. 360-281 BC) was one of Alexander's leading generals. After the death of the brilliant conqueror on June 14, 323 BC, a fratricidal fight opposed the Diadochi, his successors.
