The victory of Chéronée crowned his work in 338 before J. - C. when he was assassinated in 336 before J. - C., at the instigation of his first wife, Olympias, who was afraid to see her son Alexander, dispossessed of the Macedonian throne after the birth of a boy from a second marriage.
