Commentary

Cette médaille fut frappée pour le centenaire de la mort d’Ion Creanga (1837-1889). Ecrivain roumain, il fut d’abord diacre, puis instituteur et auteur de manuels scolaires. Son livre autobiographique Amintiri din copilărie (« Souvenirs d'enfance ») est publié après sa mort, en 1892, lui conférant une célébrité posthume.
