Denier sur un flan large avec une belle tête complète et un superbe revers de frappe vigoureuse mais légèrement décentrée. Patine grise

Obverse description : Buste diadémé, de style barbare, à droite ; une croisette devant le visage ; grènetis.

Reverse description : Fleur à six pétales ; légende autour.

Commentary

Ce denier est d’un style particulier au droit et présente une belle légende EBER(...) au revers. C’est la première fois que nous avons un tel denier à la vente. Le Moneta le rapproche du monétaire ERMOBERTVS, tout en le distinguant des monnaies avec la légende ERMOBERTO.
Le seul autre exemplaire recensé avec ce revers serait celui du trésor de Bais, n° 19 (alors même que sa photographie ne permet guère de distinguer la légende).
This denarius is of a particular style on the obverse and has a beautiful legend EBER(...) on the reverse. This is the first time that we have such a denarius for sale. The Moneta compares it to the monetary ERMOBERTVS, while distinguishing it from coins with the legend ERMOBERTO. The only other example recorded with this reverse would be that of the treasure of Bais, n° 19 (even though its photograph hardly allows us to distinguish the legend)
