Exemplaire sur un petit flan ovale avec les grènetis visibles, bien centré. Très beau portrait. Revers de haut relief, finement détaillé. Jolie patine superficielle avec des reflets mordorés

In 211 AC, the young Publius Cornelius Scipio was appointed proconsul in Spain and attempted to prevent Hasdrubal from joining Hannibal in Italy. He seizes Cartagena but fails to prevent Hasdrubal from crossing into Italy. Scipio brings war to Africa in 204 AC, forcing the Carthaginians to recall Hannibal. The Carthaginians were finally defeated at Zama in 202 AC and asked for peace the following year. That same year, Publius Cornelius Scipio received the nickname of Scipio "the African".
