Exemplaire sur un petit flan irrégulier, bien centré des deux côtés. Très beau buste, bien venu à la frappe avec une faiblesse de frappe sur la légende. Joli revers. Patine noire, légèrement granuleuse

Obverse description : Buste couronné de Romain Ier de face, vêtu de la chlamyde, tenant le labarum chrismé transversal de la main droite et un globe crucigère de la main gauche.

ROMANUS I LACAPENUS

Roman I, a peasant of Armenian origin, was named Augustus in 920. His daughter Helena married Constantine VII. He reigned for 25 years, but was deposed by Stephen and Constantine, his children, in 944. Two months later, Constantine VII got rid of his two brothers-in-law and ruled alone for the first time since 908.
