RHODESIA AND NYASALAND (Federation of)
(1953-1963)
The federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland united the colonies of Nyasaland, Northern Rhodesia and Southern Rhodesia. Initially thought of as a counterweight to a South Africa considered hostile, the federation was dissolved in 1963 due to the intransigence of white settlers in Southern Rhodesia.
