Potin avec une patine vert très sombre et brillante. Légèrement granuleux sur le bourrelet périphérique

Il est troublant de constater que cet exemplaire de la classe II a exactement le même défaut au revers, sur l'arrière du sanglier, que les exemplaires signalés dans MONNAIES XV. Celui-ci a la particularité, au revers, d'avoir un astre en creux entre les pattes. C'est le symbole au-dessus du groin (astre ou croissant) qui détermine l'appartenance à la classe I ou II. Sur cet exemplaire, il n'est pas évident de le déterminer, mais les similitudes de fabrication précédemment citées permettent largement de supposer qu'il s'agit d'un croissant.

GALLIA BELGICA - REMI (Area of Reims)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The Remi were one of the most powerful peoples of Gaul and loyal allies of the Romans. The territory of the Rèmes extended over present-day Champagne, along the Aisne. They had for neighbors the Atuatuci, the Treveri, the Mediomatrics, the Lingones, the Suessions, the Bellovaci and the Nervians. They denounced to Caesar the coalition of Belgian peoples of 57 BC which included the Suessions who shared the same laws and the same magistrates. Their main oppidum was Bibrax. The capital of the civitas in Gallo-Roman times was Durocortorum (Reims). Caesar (BG. II, 3-5, 7, 12; III, 11; V, 3, 24, 53, 54, 56; VI, 4, 12, 44; VII, 63, 90; VIII, 6, 11) . Strabo (G. IV, 3, 5).
