Obverse description : Buste à droite, la joue très marquée ; un collier perlé et un torque au cou. La chevelure traitée en ligne ondulée. Chevrons devant la bouche.

Reverse description : Cheval bondissant à gauche, la crinière perlée. Un annelet pointé (surmonté de trois petits astres) au-dessus du cheval et trois annelets pointés au-dessous du cheval.
Commentary
Cet exemplaire est frappé sur un flan beaucoup plus étroit ; la chevelure est moins développée, avec une tête plus petite que sur les deux exemplaires précédents. La légende est hors champ, mais on distingue deux lignes de chevrons partant de la bouche.

GALLIA BELGICA - REMI (Area of Reims)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The Remi were one of the most powerful peoples of Gaul and loyal allies of the Romans. The territory of the Rèmes extended over present-day Champagne, along the Aisne. They had for neighbors the Atuatuci, the Treveri, the Mediomatrics, the Lingones, the Suessions, the Bellovaci and the Nervians. They denounced to Caesar the coalition of Belgian peoples of 57 BC which included the Suessions who shared the same laws and the same magistrates. Their main oppidum was Bibrax. The capital of the civitas in Gallo-Roman times was Durocortorum (Reims). Caesar (BG. II, 3-5, 7, 12; III, 11; V, 3, 24, 53, 54, 56; VI, 4, 12, 44; VII, 63, 90; VIII, 6, 11) . Strabo (G. IV, 3, 5).
