Commentary
Ce type de pièce publicitaire a été largement utilisée, dans notre exemple par Charles-Amédée Kohler (1790-1874) qui était un chocolatier suisse et inventa le chocolat aux noisettes.
Kohler commença sa carrière comme grossiste, achetant son chocolat aux fabriques existantes. Cependant, en 1830 il se mit à produire son propre chocolat. Comme Cailler et Suchard avant lui, il perfectionna et améliora les chocolats qui plaisaient au public.
L'un de ses essais allait devenir un grand succès de l'industrie chocolatière, le chocolat aux noisettes. Avec son fils il fabriqua cette nouvelle spécialité à Lausanne.
Il fusionna son entreprise avec celle de Daniel Peter.

On notera que Kohler étant suisse, il n’éprouve aucune gène à surfrapper des monnaies françaises, tant au type de la République qu’à celui de Napoléon III. Les fabricants français de ce type de publicité sur pièce mettront en revanche un point d’honneur à ne surcharger que des monnaies étrangères.

Kohler began his career as a wholesaler, buying his chocolate from existing factories. However, in 1830 he began producing his own chocolate. Like Cailler and Suchard before him, he perfected and improved the chocolates that appealed to the public. One of his experiments would become a great success in the chocolate industry, hazelnut chocolate. With his son, he produced this new specialty in Lausanne. He merged his company with that of Daniel Peter.
