Coments on the condition:
De forme un peu irrégulière avec une petite faiblesse de frappe à deux heures au droit que l’on retrouve à cinq heures au revers. Très bel exemplaire avec une patine gris clair

Obverse legend : MONE. NO - UA. AR - G. PRIN - CIP. LIN, (LÉGENDE COMMENÇANT À 2 HEURES).
Obverse description : Écu posé sur une croix de bâtons noueux, timbré d’une couronne et écartelé au 1 d’une aigle éployée, aux 2 et 3 d’un lion rampant, au 4 d’un mur sommé de trois tours.
Obverse translation : (Monnaie nouvelle d’argent de la principauté frappée à Linchamp).
Reverse
Reverse legend : SUB. UMBRA. ALARUM. TUARUM. 1619.
Reverse description : Aigle impériale surmontée d’une croix au-dessus de laquelle se trouve une couronne et portant en cœur un rond avec 12.
Reverse translation : (À l’ombre de tes ailes).
Commentary
Sur les exemplaires de ces pièces, les U sont souvent sous forme U et non V comme habituellement.
Historical background
PRINCIPALITY OF CHATEAU-REGNAULT - LOUISE-MARGUERITE OF LORRAINE
(1614-1629)
Louise-Marguerite is the daughter of Catherine de Clèves and Henri de Guise, assassinated in Blois on December 24, 1588, when she had just been born. Countess of Eu, she married François de Bourbon, Prince of Conti in 1605 who died in 1614. After his death she governed the principality of Château-Regnault alone until 1629, when she exchanged the principality to Louis XIII for Port -on the Seine. She secretly marries François de Bassompierre, from a younger branch of Cleves, with whom she plots against Richelieu. Discovered, she was exiled to the Château d'Eu where she died on April 30, 1631, François de Bassompierre then remaining imprisoned for twelve years. Pretty and intelligent, she is also the author of a book on "The adventures of the Persian court"..
