Frédéric-Maurice II is the nephew of Frédéric-Maurice de la Tour d'Auvergne (1605-1652). He was colonel general of the cavalry of France, lieutenant-general of the armies of the king, governor and lieutenant general in Haut and Bas-Limousin.
